Violations of the Code in Argentina: analysis of promotions, advertising and labeling of commercial milk formula and complementary foods products

Breastfeeding has unique benefits for the child and mother, its decline may be one of most significant mass phenomena in infant feeding. While there are several causes, standing out among them is marketing practices commercial milk formula (CMF) complementary foods (CCF). This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted using qualitative quantitative methodology, between August 2018 2020. Regarding promotion, advertising labeling CMF CCF, none companies Argentina at time complied with International Code Marketing Breast-milk Substitutes or related laws force country. The multiple forms violation found emphasize need to establish strengthen monitoring enforcement mechanisms curb abuses by CCF industry Argentina, safeguarding rights mothers, families, their newborns.
